In factory equipment, a data
connection is also shaped by the equipment enclosure, mating state, cable
routing, nearby power equipment, maintenance handling, and environmental
exposure. A connector may be threaded, shielded, and rated for industrial use,
yet the data path still depends on how the whole link is built. This does not
reduce the importance of the connector; it clarifies it. The connector is the
boundary where mechanical design meets electrical continuity. When that
boundary is weak, the data link may become harder to maintain. When that
boundary is properly matched to the device and cable environment, it gives the
Ethernet system a more suitable physical foundation without claiming to control
every network variable.
