Density changes the electrical and mechanical math of the connector. Gold thickness at 0.8μm, 1.27μm, or a custom figure affects contact behavior after repeated mating and interacts with the chosen current rating. A typical upgrade makes this concrete. A team rebuilding an inspection device finds the mechanical envelope locked and the panel cutout already machined, but the new sensing module needs several dozen extra signal lines. The sourcing team must find two or three suppliers who can work within that constraint. Drawing turnaround, willingness to flag tolerance conflicts, and evidence of repeatable plating and welding separate them.
